visiting her "lost son" and this morning she says there was demonic "knocking" on the windows and ceiling and she did not sleep.
my wife has her own buisness and works late so her holiness asked me to drive down to see if she was fornicating with anyone....she thinks two worldly people taking an elevator to the 10 floor would have had sex by the 5th floor....thats the quality of anionted alive today...she is not nuts a well respected pioneer nazi..... .

I remember 40 years ago this old woman in the cong that was one of the annointed and she said she heard things outside of her house. She was losing it mentally and everyone knew that but they would humour her. Like AndDontCallMeShirley said if this is the best they have to rule then the JW's are in big trouble.

Good article.
some might assume that a scientifically-minded person would pick evolution and that a religious person would pick creation.
but not always.. rama singh, professor of biology at canadas mcmaster university, says: the opposition to evolution goes beyond religious fundamentalism and includes a great many people from educated sections of the population.
.
end-of-quote in awake.
Yes it is not the first time the WT has misquoted someone and I am sure it won't be the last time. The rank and file dub lap this stuff up.
that is the conclusion you must accept if you are a jehovah's witness as my wife tries to explain to me that even if what they are teaching today contradicts what they were previously teaching, they had the truth then and they have the truth now.
the difference is, they (the witnesses and the governing body) simply believed that what they were teaching at the time was the truth but when they discovered new information they adjusted their thinking.
so since they formerly believed it to be the truth, they were in the truth.. an example she gave involved people who once believed the earth was flat.
garyneal, I empathize with you. I was married to a dub that sounded much like that with her convoluted logic and circular arguments. It got to a point you could never discuss anything about the organization. I would get so flustered I felt like hitting my head up against a wall.
Like other posters said if this is a spirit directed organization, then they shouldn't get anything wrong. Things like 1975 was not a matter of changing light but an out and out lie.
i just wondering how this vile term came to be used in constant referral to the org, i really, really hate it!
it's only since coming out that i have realised how much the jdubs use it.
everything is the truth this and the truth that.
This term is not unique to just the dubs. I have heard other religion using that term. I had a friend that was born again evangelist and she referred to her beliefs as the truth.

346-347 mourning and funeralsfor whom?
a funeral or memorial service?
A friend of mine from work went to a JW funeral and got called on shortly afterward, out in the ministry. Apparently his wife had a conversation with someone at the funeral, which they mistook for interest in their religion. They then proceeded to get their names and address off of the guest registry.
That is pretty tacky but I wouldn't put anything past some dubs. I remember years ago some dub and my ex wife were going through the local news paper obituaries and writting letters to the nest of kin. They stopped after one elder told them that was not approprate.

As far as the discourse is concerned , a lot depends on the speaker. I knew an elder ( dead now ) who used to give really good funeral talks. He loosely used the WTBTS outline but made it personal & tailored the talk depending on the audience - eg if there were a lot of "worldly" relatives there he weaved in a lot of the history of the deceased - conversely if it was a mainly JW audience with few worldly people there ( eg a Bethelite or a JW with mainly JW family ) he stuck closer to the Society outline.
I understand that the elder giving the funeral sermon has to cover a certain outline but they could be a little creative and bring it back to the deceased instead of quoting one scripture after the other. Just comes across as uninspired and tacky.
I do remember a few dire JW funeral talks though. One about 30 years ago was for something of a marginal JW in our congregation who was a bit of a creepy guy and would probably today be regarded as a marginal paedophile. All the kids my age just regarded him as a smelly old man who was overly friendly and one to avoid - most congregations had them in those days. The speaker ( who hardly knew him ) stuck rigidly to the outline & kept saying how people should copy the "fine example" of this JW. A few eyebrows were raised and I could see a few of the relatives weren't impressed.
We had a few of those in the congreations I went to. Now we these types would be labelled as a pedo to keep away from. I Iremember one old fellow would always give the children candy. Maybe inocent but you never know.
i have not attended anything jw related for over a year.... until last week when i went to our one day convention.. why you ask?.
i can do what i want i'm a grown adult.. ok...ok...so my jw childhood friend who i have not seen forever, came by for a visit.. i mentally went through the check list:.
is she pioneering and need extra time?.
Last time I went was a few years ago to take my elderly mother to the memorial as she needed a ride. Sometimes you have to do things you don't like for loved ones.
